Saudi Arabia denies any anti-US motive to OPEC+ output lower

RIYADH: Saudi Arabia rejected as baseless Thursday accusations that final week’s output lower by oil cartel OPEC and its allies, together with Russia, was politically motivated in opposition to the USA.

“Saudi Arabia has considered the statements… which have described the choice as the dominion taking sides in worldwide conflicts and that it was politically motivated in opposition to the USA,” the Saudi overseas ministry stated in a press release.

Saudi Arabia would “like to precise its whole rejection of those statements that aren’t based mostly on information and that are based mostly on portraying the OPEC+ determination out of its financial context,” it added.

The dominion insisted that choices by OPEC and its allies, often called OPEC+, had been taken “purely on financial issues” and that its financial recommendation had been to withstand calls to delay the manufacturing lower.

“The federal government of the dominion clarified by means of its steady session with the US administration that each one financial analyses point out that suspending the OPEC+ determination for a month… would have had damaging financial penalties,” the ministry stated.

“Resolving financial challenges requires the institution of a non-politicised constructive dialogue and to properly and rationally take into account what serves the pursuits of all nations.”

The dominion denied that it was taking sides over Russia’s invasion of Western-backed Ukraine, insisting that it had maintained a “principled place” in help of worldwide legislation.
